María Ponce es diseñadora textil y de moda originaria de Paracho, Michoacán, y radica en Ciudad de México desde hace nueve años, ha construido su vida y su obra en un poderoso vaivén entre realidad y sueño, entendiendo la moda como un discurso capaz de transformar el entorno y reescribir el futuro. Es una mujer transgénero y creadora de estética maximalista. En su práctica, donde “más es más”, la nostalgia dialoga con el presente. María ha hecho de su transición personal y profesional un mismo proceso creativo, asumiendo que la autenticidad consiste en parecerse cada vez más a la mujer que soñó ser, aun cuando el camino implicara dudas, miedos y batallas íntimas. Tras cuatro años en una industria vertiginosa, hoy se mira al espejo y reconoce, desde la felicidad conquistada, a esa mujer que siempre anhelo, convencida de que cuando una abraza su verdad individual, esta se vuelve colectiva, y que cada paso —incluso aquel primer par de tacones temblorosos— forma parte de una transformación luminosa que nunca deja de pulirse.
