Valentina Morales, modelo andrógina nacida y criada en Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, descubrió en el modelaje no solo una profesión sino el umbral hacia su verdad más íntima: la de una mujer transgénero que emergió con fuerza durante la soledad de la pandemia, cuando el silencio y el miedo a convivir consigo misma se convirtieron en el parteaguas para dejar salir a esa identidad que siempre había habitado en su interior. Descubierta mientras estudiaba diseño gráfico en Mérida y forjada entre pasarelas y sobrevivencia en la Ciudad de México, ha hecho de su androginia —que asume como una condición tan natural como poderosa— un territorio de exploración y libertad. Aunque las etiquetas le resulten estrechas, prefiere nombrarse “sirena”, un símbolo de dualidad y naturaleza propia que abraza con plenitud. Hoy reconoce que Valentina no es una fantasía sino su ser más real: una transformación en proceso constante que le ha dado un carácter nuevo, una presencia distinta y la certeza luminosa de habitarse sin miedo.
Valentina Morales, an androgynous model born and raised in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, discovered in modeling not only a career but the threshold to her deepest truth: a transgender woman who fully emerged during the solitude of the pandemic, when silence and the fear of being alone with herself became the turning point that allowed the identity she had always carried within to finally surface. Discovered while studying graphic design in Mérida and shaped between runways and survival in Mexico City, she has turned her androgyny—embraced as something both innate and powerful—into a space of exploration and freedom; though labels feel limiting to her, she prefers to call herself a “mermaid,” a symbol of duality and natural essence that she inhabits with pride. Today she understands that Valentina is not a fantasy but her truest self: an ongoing transformation that has given her a new character, a renewed presence, and the luminous certainty of living without fear.
